Come view some of the best independent films, shorts and documentaries that our city and the region has to offer. (We may be a little biased, but we highly recommend “The Beach” from our own producer and videographer extraordinaire Blayre Pichon and fellow filmmaker, Toroes Thomas. The screening is next Thursday, Oct. 25 at 1:30 p.m. at the Contemporary Arts Center warehouse. The opening night film is “Green Book,” which stars New Orleans actor Martin Bradford.

Free Screening of Beetlejuice

There are several spooky screenings around town this week and throughout the month, but Beetlejuice remains a classic. Take this chance to see one of Beetlejuice on the big screen this Wednesday while sipping on a little cider, perfect for our fall-ish weather. This campy film stands the test of time and will be a satisfying solution to your need for mid-week dose of quirky spookiness.

Kevin Hart: The Irresponsible Tour

You can laugh at his pain and be a little irresponsible for the night, and that’s exactly what this comedian who has shot to superstardom in recent years wants you to do at his show this Thursday. But it’s your responsibility to follow his “no cell phone” policy. Don’t be the fans that get booted out of the show like these Detroit fans, who found out the hard way.

Krewe of Boo’s Cocktail Happy Hour

Join in for this Krewe of Boo happy hour, which meets in front of Broussard’s and then parades onward to Pat O’Brien’s. The Krewe of Boo is New Orleans’ official Halloween parade, and this event is an opportunity to get in to the full New Orleans Halloween spirit, complete with a second line and specialty drinks!

Young Professionals Night with the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce

Join the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce for free hors d’oeuvres and drink specials, along with a performance from The Voice Season 13 contestant Adam Pearce. On top of all this, they’ll have giveaways and raffle prizes! Free food and giveaways? Yeah, we know you’ll be there! The event is free, but attendees are asked to register on the Chamber website.
