Headed out to the Bayou Boogaloo? Playing in the heat and water can work up a hunger. Luckily, there’s plenty of tasty food, and most of it is under $10.

Here are our top choices:

Food Drunk’s crab & crawfish mac and cheese

Panko crumbs top this cheesy seafood favorite, adding another dimension to every bite. It also has kick with plenty of pepper in the seasoning. Price: $9

Empanola’s crawfish empanada

Missing crawfish bread from Jazz Fest? Don’t worry, Empanola’s got the solution, complete with a zesty sauce on the side. Price: $5

Praline Connection’s red beans & jumbo fried chicken

Sometimes you’re just looking for a taste of New Orleans; this is it. The creamy red beans go perfectly with the crispiness of two jumbo chicken wings, and for $8, it’s a huge portion. Get napkins.

Frytastic’s burnout fries

These loaded crinkle fries prove the vegetarian choices at Boogalooo still pack in a lot of flavor. Onions are sauteed in butter and mixed in with cheddar cheese and a secret fry sauce. Price: $10

Mona’s Cafe : Shawarma

For more than 20 years, Mona’s has been a staple for Mediterranean food in the city. Their chicken shawarma and various gyros make these great options to grab and eat while floating down the bayou. Price: $7

Cool Fruit Sensation’s Strawberry Lemonade

We can’t forget drinks! Highs will be in the 90s this weekend, and this strawberry lemonade, with fresh muddled fruit, is perfect for cooling off. Other flavors include lime and watermelon. Price: $5-$10.
