New Orleans Gets Another Country Music Festival

New Orleans' latest festival hopes to fill the gaps in the city's country music calendar.

New Orleans suffers from a glut of festivals. Every possible culinary item gets its day in sun. As the birthplace of jazz, it holds several fests dedicated to the most American genre from the least American city. But even genres that don’t have a historical precedent in the city, from electronic dance music on down to horror-punk, have their own fest.

For fans of dirt roads and pickups, however, the choices are relatively scant. Bayou Country Superfest lives up to its name and brings the legends to town, and the Blender can be counted on to bring in a Shania Twain every once in a while, but the rest of the calendar year is decidedly light on country music. Newcomer Country Smooth Fest hopes to fill in some of the gaps with its just announced fall festival.

At the top of the bill, Country Smooth is bringing in Joe Nichols, Justin Moore and Lousiana native Hunter Hayes. Further down the bill, fans can expect to hear up-and-comers like Austin Burke and local-ish acts like Parish County Line. The whole thing goes down over two days (October 20-21) at NOLA Motorsports in Avondale.

Find out more about the fest over at their website.
