Local food for local people and supporting local agriculture. The Crescent City Farmers Market has been a source for New Orleanians to make groceries as local as they possibly can.
The market offers fresh herb plants, meats, veggies, breads — you name it.
The Crescent City Farmer’s Market rotates at various locations around the city, but if you’re on a busy schedule, It can be hard to get there early enough to get exactly what you might need. It’s popularity sometimes can make securing the groceries and ingredients you need problematic if you don’t get to it first — or you simply miss the time to check it out.
The growing popularity also has the Crescent City Farmer’s Market growing on its own into new soil — the tech world.
The market launched a new app to make it easier on us all to make sure we have healthy, local options for food. The free app allows customers to buy their produce online before vendors run out, and then pick it up at the market. It also lets customers see what vendors will have in stock that day, even before the market opens.
The farmers market moves from day to day, so customers can select a market location and day to see all of the available products. At checkout, customers will be charged a five-percent fee that covers the cost of the transaction and helps vendors participate without any additional out-of-pocket expenses.
Crescent City Farmers Market operates throughout the week Uptown, in the French Quarter, Mid-City, Downtown and Rivertown. Click here to visit their website for more deets about the app.
