You are cordially invited to the 2019 Orleans Public Education Network Annual Policy Breakfast, a yearly overview of how public policy plays out in our city and state's classrooms. This year's event examines Louisiana's educator workforce: current legislation impacting teachers, how educators can organize themselves across districts, and what the looming threat of a teacher shortage means for preparation and accreditation programs across the region. The day will include a series of capstone policy presentations from the 2019 Louisiana Education Policy Fellowship Program cohort, as well as panels on policy, practice and strategies for equitable teacher advocacy. Check back soon for final details. At OPEN, we believe that policy should be driven by the people and held accountable to the people. That's why we’re using this event to highlight recent policy progressions, explore the overlooked issues, and bring the people, professionals and policymakers together for a thoughtful dialogue. This event is free and open to the public, but donations are gratefully accepted. Contributions of $15 or more receive a guaranteed parking pass!
