Discover new directions for creating energized, intuitive, abstract art with acrylic paints and collage in this TWO-DAY workshop.
A permission to play and an enjoyment of the process of painting are the focus. If you’re just beginning your painting journey or if you are a more experienced artist and want to explore new ideas, this workshop is for you! Fresh ideas will open up possibilities that will expand your personal artistic vocabulary. This workshop is a fun, engaging, no-fail painting experience!
On DAY ONE, participants will create a variety of hand painted and printed collage papers, and fabric. We’ll explore mark making, pattern, texture, and line for expressive effect using various paints, brushes, tools and techniques. We’ll also prep our substrates for Day Two of the workshop.
* We’ll do a bit of printing on Gelli Plates. If you have one, bring it. If you don’t have one, there will be a couple of class plates available to use. GOLDEN Open acrylics will be provided for that. On DAY TWO, abstract painting explorations will continue with a variety of creative prompts. Using the previous day’s collage papers, we’ll layer them combined with innovative use of acrylic paints, gels, and pastes. Depending how quickly you work, you’ll start or finish several works on paper and cradled panel. After the workshop, I’ll be available for email consults for a couple of weeks if you have questions about your work. You’ll have plenty of collage papers to take home for other projects.
** As a certified member of the GOLDEN Artist Educator Program, I enjoy sharing my knowledge of GOLDEN acrylic paint, gels, pastes, mediums, etc. In addition to the benefits of creative exploration, this workshop is designed to help you gain understanding and experience with the various acrylic paints and products thereby enhancing your painting confidence.
