WORKSHOP DATES: 10/18/19 10:30am- 4:30pm and10/19/19 10:30am- 4:30pm In this TWO-DAY workshop, we’ll explore different ways to create vibrant and expressive abstract paintings using acrylic paints, gels and pastes. Color essentials and harmonies will be covered with hands-on experiences to enhance your knowledge and confidence when painting. Additionally, we’ll learn how to exploit the characteristics of High Flow, Fluid, and Heavy Body acrylics for maximum effect. Abstract painting explorations will begin with creating a series of small works (approximately 5x7”) on heavy paper using a spontaneous approach with creative prompts, mark making, and working with limited palettes. These will serve as stand-alone small art works or as warm-ups. They will be a springboard to working on two larger cradled wood panels or canvas (16x20”). This is a great workshop for beginning and intermediate levels. The focus will be on exploration and enjoyment of the painting process. Fresh ideas will open up possibilities that will expand your personal artistic vocabulary. Depending on your experience level and your work habits you may finish your pieces during the workshop. Or, you may have several good starts that will be works in process to take home to complete. Participants can email me for up to 2 weeks after the workshop with questions about their artwork. Taking an art workshop is a great investment in your artistic and personal development. This workshop is chock full of information and inspiration.
