The motivation for this event is to present and share a New Orleans based fashion line with a diverse range of communities. Zechor Fashion is based on the idea of creating unique designs in a wide range of sizes, featuring bright colors and patterns- which for the Garifuna people represent happiness and celebration of their Afro-Indigenous culture. The event will feature the designs of Teresa Morales (Rochez Zechor Fashion), Valerie Palacios (Walagante Garifuna), and Soad Martinez Rochez Zechor Accessories); a vocal performance by Cheyla Cabreras, a sneak-preview of the forthcoming Garifuna docu-series Anichugu, and special guests from the Garifuna community. The event is organized and sponsored by Garifuna designer Teresa Morales, the founder and director of Zechor Fashion, LLC, with the support of the Zechor Fashion team, including an extended network of friends and family. Her dream is to keep on developing and evolving her brand with the same impulse for success she derives from her experience as a Garifuna, Latina, Honduran immigrant in the United States.
