Annual Maafa Commemoration

Ashé Cultural Arts Center
Getting there
1712 Oretha C Haley Blvd, New Orleans, LA

Honor your ancestors (known and unknown) at the Ashé's Annual Maafa Commemoration. "The past we inherit, the future we create." The sacred ceremony is held in Congo Square (701 N. Rampart Street), followed by a procession to the Tomb of the Unknown Slave, historic slave markers, locations where slave-trade business took place, and on to the mighty Mississippi River, where participants release flowers in the names of their ancestors.
