Art for Activism 2.0 – We’re Not Done Yet

Good Children Gallery
Getting there
4037 St Claude Ave, New Orleans, LA

Art for Activism, an art exhibition and auction, bloomed over the pandemic into a positive, creative movement for social justice and progress. Last summer, as protestors took to the streets across the nation, Art for Activism was formed and called upon local artists to come together and create art that inspired not just hope, but significant and lasting change that our society so desperately needs. The response was overwhelming! All works created for Art for Activism 2020 were presented in an exhibition at Carroll Gallery located on Tulane University. The month-long show culminated in a 24-hour online auction that raised $7484 for the non-profit Mobilizing Millennials, a political organization whose main mission is to encourage voting and civic literacy in populations such as Millennials and Gen Z. Driven to maintain the momentum, Art for Activism issued another call for New Orleans artists to continue the conversation around inequality and to use their art to make a change. “Art for Activism 2.0 - We're Not Done Yet” will be on exhibited at Good Children April 10 – May 2 culminating with a 24-hour online auction at the end of the show. For this round of fundraising, 50% of art sales will go to support arts education through the non-profit Art Camp 504 Rising Artist Scholarship Fund with the remaining 50% of funds going directly back to the artists. The scholarship fund fuels the future of activism by creating opportunities for New Orleans low-income youth to have access to the high-quality art education Art Camp 504 provides. The Art for Activism 2021 show will end with a family friendly celebration in the Bywater neighborhood with music, food, and activities. Details to come.
