Spend a lovely day enjoying art and nature at this unique spring event hosted by Crevasse 22 I River House on Saturday, May 4th. Just twenty-five minutes from the French Quarter, at 8114 Saro Lane in Poydras, LA, the sculpture garden and museum is a brief jaunt from the Saint Bernard Bird Festival and an idyllic setting to spend the day enjoying nature. The day will begin with plein air art activities for all ages in the sculpture garden and artist led demonstrations by Jen Blanchard in the solarium. Followed at 1 PM by a talk from John Anderson, son of Biloxi artist Walter Anderson, about our special first-time exhibition of working drawings the elder Anderson made while staying on the offshore islands near Biloxi. Later in the day, enjoy talks by artists Gina Phillips and Jen Odem, whose works are on view, as part of the "Landscapes and Monsters" exhibition and in the sculpture garden, respectively. Conclude your visit with Eric Johnson, Director of Bird Conservation for Audubon Louisiana, listening to the migratory birds on their stopover in the woods next to the River House. Photographer Carolyn Somers will provide tips on photographing birds on the expedition. Carolyn has generously provided special gifts of her beautiful bird prints for visitors who schedule a donation to the Creative Alliance of New Orleans, (CANO) while at the event for GiveNOLA Day via GiveNOLA.org. Light refreshments will be served. For more information call Jeanne Nathan or Kari Morehead at 504.218.4807 or 917.232.4522.
