Authors Walt Handelsman, Chris Champagne and Mike Strecker will talk about and sign their new books 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon, Metairie. This event is free of charge and is open to the public. There is no registration. Walt Handelsman, I�m Drawing As Fast As I Can!!! I�m Drawing As Fast As I Can!!! is a collection of Handelsman�s work covering the past five years. It features the foibles of the Louisiana legislature, satirizing the ongoing craziness in the nation�s capitol, as well as comments on international developments. Walt Handelsman is the two-time, Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist for The New Orleans Advocate. His work is nationally syndicated by Tribune Content Agency in Chicago to over 200 newspapers around the country and internationally. Handelsman�s work has been seen in Newsweek, Time, The New York Times, USA Today, The Washington Post and The Chicago Tribune. He has been a featured guest on CNN, The NewsHour and ABC�s �Nightline.� Chris Champagne, Secrets of New Orleans Secrets of New Orleans describes countless off-beat experiences: Houses built to resemble riverboats, the finest business hall in the world, a meteorite in a golf course, a back alley that serves as a portal of the voodoo afterworld, a 1960's time capsule, a house made of 1200 glass ashtrays, Lee Harvey Oswald forgotten Commemorative Plate, a secret doll museum on the second floor of a private house, the largest religious work of art on canvas in the world and more. Chris Champagne is a graduate of the Orleans Parish School System and of the University of New Orleans where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in History. He is a writer, performer, poet, comedian, political satirist, radio show host and columnist who has performed on stages throughout the Greater New Orleans area. He was voted one of 144 New Orleans Characters in 2012 and also was voted best comedian in New Orleans in 2013 and 2014. Champagne is the author of the poetry book Roach Opera, and The Yat Dictionary, a book on the dialect spoken by many native Orleanians. He is also the author of Secret New Orleans, published in 2017. Mike Strecker, Jokes for Crescent City Kids Strecker is the author of Jokes for Crescent City Kids which includes more than 600 jokes as well as advice for kids about delivery of punch lines. It also includes a �Who Dat� glossary of local terms and their pronunciations. Mike Strecker has performed at comedy clubs throughout the United States, including The Improv in Los Angeles, HA! Comedy Club in New York, and the House of Blues in New Orleans, where he was billed as one of the top acts of the New Orleans Comedy Festival. He has won numerous comedy contests. He is a regular performer with Heffron Talent, Ken-Ran Entertainment, Summit Comedy, Running Funny, and other booking agencies throughout the country. Going to the grocery store, buying a car, or trying to make a relationship work provide the basis for Strecker�s humor.
