Beneath the Weight End Emotional Eating, a weight loss program conducted by the nonprofit organization, SelfCare Health Initiatives, will occur at 6 p.m., on three consecutive Wednesdays May 16, 23 and 30 at the River Ridge Library, 8825 Jefferson Highway, River Ridge. "Beneath the Weight - End Emotional Eating" is a weight loss program in which participants help each learn how to end eating high carbohydrate, high calorie, foods in response to stress and emotions. The program is free of charge and is open to the public. Library patrons interested in attending this program should note that this is not a series of lectures. Instead, it is a participatory event in which attendees share eating and weight loss experiences with partners at their tables. The first two sessions focus on "Beneath the Weight - End Stress Eating." Each session is designed to enable participants to help each other learn how to stop eating high carbohydrate, high calorie foods in response to stress and emotions. The third session is Journey to My Right Weight Connecting to Resources, which introduces patrons to practitioners of several weight loss modalities, including nutrition, exercise, therapy/counseling, group support, hypnotherapy, and yoga/meditation. It is sponsored by the nonprofit organization, SelfCare Health Initiatives in partnership with the Tulane School of Social Work, New Orleans Healing Center, and the Broadmoor Arts and Wellness Center.
