Black August: A Call to Action! is a one-day convening happening on Saturday, September 8th, 2018, at Art Estuary 1024 [www.artsestuary.org] from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in New Orleans, Louisiana. No Dream Deferred NOLA, a community anchored performing arts company, is partnering with multiple national as well as grassroots organizations to foster dialogue about prison reform and ending the mass incarceration of black and brown people in the United States. We will examine how art making can serve as a catalyst for community organizing and action through, facilitated conversations, play readings, shared meals and guest speakers.
