Ceramics: Simple steps to nesting serving bowls with Nikki Jackson Time: Mondays and Wednesdays, June 4-20 * Mondays from 5pm-7pm * Wednesdays from 5pm-7pm Instructor: Nikki Jackson Location: NOCCA, 2800 Chartres Street (Ceramics Studio) ABOUT THIS CLASS Imagine serving a delicious meal to your guests at a table set with gorgeous serving vessels you designed and made yourself. And imagine being able to put them away, when the meal is over, without taking up all your precious cabinet space, because they fit neatly inside each other! In this class, we will use a surprisingly simple approach to design and create a form you can use over and over again to make finished pieces that vary in size but not in shape, so they can stack together beautifully. We’ll also consider other design elements that can be repeated or varied to create sets that are unified without having to be exact copies of each other. Hand built work doesn’t have to look like it was made by a kindergartner. I’ll show you how to create pieces that reflect your unique style, so you’ll be proud to show them off! All levels of skill and experience are welcome in this class. REQUIREMENTS No previous experience is required. You’ll be getting your hands dirty, and probably your clothing, too, so please dress appropriately (e.g. jeans, t-shirts, etc.). Enrollment is limited to adults 18 and over. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR Receiving her B.F.A. from Bath College of Higher Education (England), Nikki Jackson came to the United States in 1990 to study with artist Paul Soldner at Scripps College in California via a Gane Travel Scholarship.
