Since 1991, the Friends of Longue Vue have presented the Essence of Style Design Symposium, featuring top speakers in the fields of design, horticulture, and art. Each year the Symposium raises funds to support the preservation of Longue Vue as one of New Orleans’ historic gems, and its role as a cultural center that provides dynamic programming for the New Orleans community. This year we are excited to welcome Lewis Miller, master florist, as our featured speaker. Miller studied horticulture and landscape design in Seattle, Washington before moving to New York to work for a top floral boutique. In March of 2002, Miller created LMD New York City (Lewis Miller Design) to showcase his talent and love for detail. He has the beautiful ability to combine luxurious and simple materials in a single and stunning arrangement. Miller is also known for his “flower flashes”: spontaneous floral designs that pop-up across the New York City landscape.
