Dillard University’s Choir is set to host its 83rd Holiday Concert on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 7:30 p.m., in the University’s Lawless Memorial Chapel. The Choir is directed by Professor S. Carver Davenport, who is in his 44th year as director. This event is free and open to the public. Dr. Jolisa Singletary ‘06, will be this year’s guest soloist. The Dillard alumna turned faculty has a soprano vocal range set to astound audience members as she performs choral selections Mary Had a Baby and Lord, You’re Holy. Singletary serves as the University’s assistant choir director and adjunct professor of Music. The Choir will also perform selections such as Joy to the World arranged by Frank Kuykendall and traditional Christmas melodies. The Dillard University Octet will perform Children Go Where I Send Thee, arranged by Davenport. Each year, students from all over the country come together to form the Dillard University Concert Choir. Since 1935, Dillard’s Concert Choir has developed a brilliant and staggering reputation.
