The Center for Evidence to Practice invites behavioral health professionals, referral sources (pediatricians, Head Start, etc.), and community members to join us at our first EBP Peer Support Group in New Orleans, Louisiana. Clinicians who are interested in pursuing an EBP training, currently in training, or implementing an EBP, are highly encouraged to attend. Meetings will be held every other month at locations across the state. The Center for Evidence to Practice has contracted Lenell Young, Director of the Louisiana Parenting Education Network (LAPEN). Ms. Young will co-develop the EBP Support Groups with the behavioral health community members who attend and with guidance from the Center for Evidence to Practice and the Office of Behavioral Health. What will the meeting agenda be? EBP Peer Support Group activities will vary depending on the backgrounds and interests of those in attendance. The Facilitator may start the meeting by sharing updates from the Center for Evidence to Practice or the Office of Behavioral Health, such as upcoming training opportunities or an updated EBP service definition. Participants will be guided through activities to discuss their challenges and successes with EBPs and more. If you have an idea for the EBP Peer Support Groups, email us at EvidencetoPractice@lsuhsc.edu EBPs that may be discussed include Triple P, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Child-Parent Psychotherapy, Functional Family Therapy, Multi-Systemic Therapy, Preschool PTSD Treatment, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and more. Please note that these meetings are not EBP training. They are to support clinicians, agencies, and communities in learning about and successfully implementing EBPs. Where/when will the EBP Peer Support Group Meetings be held? These meetings will be held at community-based locations (libraries, non-profits, etc.) in the following cities in Louisiana: Baton Rouge New Orleans Lake Charles Lafayette Monroe Alexandria Shreveport Meetings will be held every other month in each location. Stay tuned for updates on the next EBP Peer Support Group near you! Can I attend a meeting in a different area than which I typically work? Definitely! You are welcome to attend whichever meeting best suits your work schedule and geographic location. Is there a call-in option for the meetings? We are going to initiate these meetings with in-person only, as the goal is to create an environment for networking and learning - which is more challenging to achieve over the phone! However, if deemed appropriate, we may add a Zoom component for future meetings. If your agency would like a one-on-one call to discuss EBP training opportunities, email EvidencetoPractice@lsuhsc.edu Are CEUs offered for attending EBP Peer Support Group Meetings? The Center for Evidence to Practice does not offer CEU credits for participating in EBP Peer Support meetings. However, if your agency participates in an EBP training sponsored by the Center for Evidence to Practice, CEUs will be given. The amount will vary depending on the training.
