EXPLORING THE DIASPORA: Cuba Youngsters, Adults Travel the Diaspora Without Leaving New Orleans Ashé Cultural Arts Center proudly presents Exploring the Diaspora , an event designed to create an awareness of African-Americans' contributions to New Orleans. Diasporic pavilions, will feature each country's history, art, culture, storytelling, food, décor and more. The site will be the Ashé Power House, 1731 Baronne Street, New Orleans, with events scheduled as follows: The venue will be converted to replicate the aesthetics of each country, including its art and atmosphere. The format includes: FIELD TRIP Experiences for students happen on Friday mornings. Session One: 10:00 AM-NOON Session Two: NOON-2:00 PM. Fee: $8.00 per person Chaperones and teacher, free. DATE NIGHT On Friday evenings, from 6:00-8:00 PM, a special "date night" is planned for adults. The evening includes history, art and entertainment and representative of the country being spotlighted. A complete catered meal is available at a nominal fee. Date Night Fee: $10.00 per person FAMILY DAY Saturday is reserved for family interaction. Families get the full field trip experience ,which includes crafts, a snack representative of the country and entertainment. Session One: 12:00-2:00 PM Session Two: 2:00-4:00 PM Fee: $10.00 per adult, $8.00 per child Other countries celebrated were Haiti, Chana, and Senegal.
