Ashé Cultural Arts Center presents Exploring the Diaspora - Morocco. One of a two-part series, this event, which happens on May 9 and 10, 2018, at Ashé Cultural Arts Center, 1712 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. in New Orleans , is designed to create an awareness of the similarities between Morocco and New Orleans, and the African influences on both. The pavilion will feature facts on the rich culture of Morocco, its food, art, language, movement, and more. Field trip tickets are $8. An Evening in Morocco, geared toward adults, is $10. The schedule of events at the Power House includes: Student Field Trip Experience : Thursday and Friday, May 9 and 10; Session 1 --10:00 AM and Session 2 at noon. An Evening in Morocco - Happy Hour : Friday, May 10; 6:00-8:00 PM All sessions include historical facts about Morocco, food tastings, visuals, art and music. Students will participate in storytelling and crafts. Morocco Happy Hour includes dinner and dancing. Exploring the Diaspora 2019 is a 2-part series. Ashé will be visually transformed to include elements of Morocco (May 9 & 10), and Benin (Nov. 14 and 15).
