Foundation Paper-Piecing Workshop, with Gigi Baay

Getting there
4610 MAGAZINE ST., New Orleans, LA

Foundation paper piecing is a technique in making quilt blocks with absolute precision every time; however, this method can be incredibly intimidating if you’re not familiar with it. Join Gigi Baay in this fun workshop where she will demonstrate how this method takes all the hassle out of cutting and sewing your quilt block. You can even use oddly shaped pieces of your fabric scraps. It’s the closest thing to “quilt by number”! You begin by sewing fabric to a paper foundation to create extremely precise points and shapes. Paper piecing can be used for many designs, from simpler blocks like a square-in-a-square, or more elaborate patterns like a Mariner’s compass. You may bring your own scraps (laundered and ironed), or purchase some fat quarters in our shop at our 15% class discount. Bring your working sewing machine (or use one of ours). $38 per person. You may phone in to register (504-302-9434) , or register through Eventbrite.
