New Orleans climate grows the biggest and most beautiful gingers in the south. Come learn about these beautiful plants from Tim Chapman the owner of Gingerwood Nursery. Tim Chapman will cover the major groups of gingers suitable for New Orleans and focus on many of the new introductions as well as some old tried and true ones. Tim Chapman has been growing, collecting, and selling gingers since the late 80’s. Gingerwood Nursery had been a part time business for many years but is now a full time operation. Over the last 20+ years he has introduced many new gingers to the US. This has been through trading with collectors around the world, traveling to Central America, South America, and especially South Asia to find new gingers. In addition I have created hybrids of Costus, Curcuma, Hedychium and Kaempferia. His focus has been on the cold hardy gingers and increasing their availability.
