Join us for Gretna Kids Playhouse's Summer Theatre Workshop 2019. For two weeks, young performers will study the craft of acting through theatre games, master classes, and rehearsals - all culminating in two performances of Alice in Wonderland. Our version of Alice in Wonderland uses humor and heart to re-tell the classic tale in an unforgettable (and oftentimes unconventional) way. Although Alice in Wonderland is not a traditional musical, there are musical elements in the show, so our young performers will have the opportunity to experience that side of the theatrical process. In Alice in Wonderland, there are roles for every performer, regardless of experience or skill level. The workshop will be led by actor/director Cammie West at the beautiful Gretna Cultural Center for the Arts (Huey P. Long Ave. and 4th St.) and is open to performers ages 7-13. The workshop runs Monday - Friday, 9am-3pm, July 15 - 26. We will have two performances of the show, 3pm and 6:00pm, on Saturday, July 27. Actors must be available to participate in BOTH performances. A t-shirt will be provided with registration. Additional t-shirts will be available for purchase. After completing payment you will be provided a link to complete your registration.A need-based scholarship will be available to a participant thanks to the generosity of the Post Backstage. You will find the application for the scholarship here. For scholarship inquiries and all other questions about the program, please contact the workshop director, Cammie West, at kidsplayhouse@gretnacca.com.The Gretna Kids Playhouse is made possible by the Post Backstage and the City of Gretna.
