Harpist Kimberly Snaufer DeRosa will perform alongside 20 professional and student members of the New Orleans Chapter of the American Harp Society at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon, Metairie. The concert is free of charge. It is open to the public. The library event has become known as the �annual harp extravaganza.� DeRosa is a concert and recording artist, music educator, festival director and freelance performer in the United States and Canada. She is based in Texas, where she performs with the Dallas Jazz Harp Ensemble as well as the New Houston Harp Ensemble. She has performed with the Houston Symphony, Dallas Wind Symphony, Opera in Concert (Canada), and in various celebrity concerts. She also offers workshops on music�s role in relaxation and well-being. She is a popular presenter for master classes and multi-level workshops and is founding director of the Houston Summer Harp Festival (2000-present), Harp Journeys for Adults (2006-present), and harp instructor at McKamy Middle School and Baton Rouge Harp Festival. DeRosa has been called a passionate instructor and nurtures the love for music and the harp while building confidence in students of all ages and levels. Her students have won competitions and earned scholarships and acceptances into universities and conservatories in the United States and Canada. DeRosa will perform a solo recital at 5 p.m., Sunday, September 23, at Tulane University.
