Indigo Dye Party with Megan Jewel

Home Malone
Getting there
629 North Carrollton Avenue, New Orleans, LA

Join us for an Indigo Dye Party at Home Malone on Sunday, October 7th! Local artist Megan Jewel will guide you through the basics of indigo dyeing using Shibori techniques.
Each attendee will create their own beautiful hand-dyed textiles during this workshop.
This event will take place in the backyard of Home Malone.
During the workshop, each attendee will be provided 2 tea towels and 1 scarf to dye. You may bring 1 item of your own to dye if time allows, but it must be made of natural fibers such as cotton, silk, or rayon. Please do not bring large fabric items like sheets or yardage.
Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear that you don't mind getting messy.
Light refreshments will be served.
Ages 13+. Attendees under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Each must have their own ticket.
No refunds. If you are unable to make the event, your ticket may be transferred to another person for this date only. This event will be held outdoors. In the event of inclement weather, the workshop will be rescheduled and tickets will be transferred to the raindate.
Shibori is a Japanese term for manual-resist methods used to create patterns on fabric. We will explore techniques using folding, pleating, and binding to create patterns on the provided textiles. Each piece will be dyed in the indigo vat, which produces a bold or subtle blue and white pattern, depending on the material and method used.
Becasue of the handmade and experimental nature of indigo dyeing, results may vary between attendees and from sample textiles shown.
