Drummer and vocalist Jamison Ross has come a long way for someone in his mid-twenties. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Jamison was mentored by Grammy winning Marcus Roberts before coming to New Orleans to study at UNO. Since then, Jamison has worked with many acclaimed jazz artists including Carmen Lundy, Henry Butler and Jon Batiste. In 2012, he won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Drums Competition which included a record deal with Concord Records. Ross' debut album, "Jamison", embodies a joyous sound grounded in Ross' distinct approach to music, which is rooted in the church, but interpreted through his profound knowledge of jazz. It is sure to gain him some much-deserved exposure as a singer and drummer and also reveals that this recording is an organic and honest expression of who he is as an artist.
