From New Orleans to the world, "Jumpin" Johnny Sansone is known for his blistering electric harmonica tone, award winning song writing, swamp pop accordion and larger than life stage presence. Johnny's music career started with his early years of backing up Chicago blues legends Jimmy Rodgers, Robert Jr Lockwood and John Lee Hooker. He was fronting Ronnie Earl's Broadcasters in the 1980s, and then in the 1990s he moved to New Orleans to join the new brand of roots music that was brewing up here. Now after a Grammy Award nomination, nine Blues Music Award nominations (winning song of the year 2012), a Juno Award, fifteen Best of the Beat Awards and seven Big Easy Awards, Johnny continues to forge forward on worldwide tours with his own blues band. As a member of New Orleans super group Voices of The Wetlands All Stars, Johnny has played alongside Dr John, Cyril Neville and Tab Benoit. Sansone has collaborated with everyone from The Edge of the band U2, to recording Changui music in Santiago Cuba with soprano sax great Jane Bunnett, to backing up pianist composer Randy Newman. Tonight is a special show following the Krewe du Vieux Mardi Gras parade passing by right out front on Frenchmen Street at approximately 7:30pm . This rhythm & blues KDV afterparty kicks off at 9pm. One long show.
