Marigny Opera Ballet's Program II will feature the premieres of three works: 1. Gottschalk Suite - A celebration of the piano music of Louis Moreau Gottschalk,(1829-1889) the internationally acclaimed composer who was born and raised just blocks from the Marigny Opera House. Choreography: Derwin May, Jr.; Pianist: Katalin Lukacs. 2. Pierrot Lunaire - A new ballet by Rebecca Allen to the avant-garde masterpiece of Arnold Schoenberg from 1912. Sung by acclaimed Mezzo Soprano Phyllis Treigle, and accompanied by the New Resonance Chamber Ensemble, Francis Scully, Conductor. 3. Querelle - Based on the incendiary 1947 novel by Jean Genet, Querelle depicts the life of a bisexual, drug-dealing sailor in the French port of Brest. Choreography: Diogo de Lima, Music: Byron Asher.
