NOLA Voice Theatre is proud to present “Michael Martin: A Life in Theatre”, a benefit celebrating the life and works of the late Big Easy Award-winning actor, director, and theatre artist to raise funds to preserve his legacy and provide for his family. Martin was the creator of the national hit play “Verbatim Verboten”, an ever-changing revue of staged transcripts from the famous and not-so-famous, saying things never meant for the public ear. The show has played to great reviews in Chicago, New York City, New Orleans, Seattle, and Minneapolis. In 2016, Martin created InFringe Fest New Orleans, the City’s only full-scale Independent Theatre & Performing Arts Festival, and served as the Artistic Director until 2019. He is also credited with creating what is now known as the St. Claude Theatre Corridor, opening several of the venues along St. Claude Avenue in the Faubourg Marigny. “Michael Martin: A Life in Theatre” performs at The AllWays Lounge at 2240 St. Claude Avenue on Wednesday, June 2nd at 7 pm, hosted by New Orleans stage and television personality Vatican Lokey. Scheduled to appear are Big Easy Award winner Cammie West, New Orleans theatre legend Adella Gautier, actors Margeaux Fanning, Shannon Williams, and a star roster of actors, performers, and theatre artists who worked with Martin during his long career. Admission to the benefit is free, with donations accepted throughout the evening. There will also be raffles of selected items from Martin’s estate. All monies collected will be added to the Michael Martin Fund. Lokey and longtime Martin collaborator Warren Usey have created an ongoing GoFundMe account at:
