Millennial Voter Engagement Initiative presents the #MeToo Panel. On April 15, 2019, millennials of New Orleans along with policy experts, civic leaders and advocates will gather at Café Istanbul for 7:00PM where they will engage in a panel discussion featuring Senator Mary Landrieu and Council Member Helena Moreno. This panel discussion will focus on how young people can proactively engage with sexual violence prevention and survivor support while seeking justice in a system that historically fails to address the needs of victims of color, transgender victims, and victims who are poor. In our panel discussion, we aim to facilitate concrete actions to reduce sexual violence. Young people will consider how sexual violence impacts their community and learn how they can further engage in prevention and survivor support. Millennials will leave the event with strategies and paths to transition from reactive efforts to proactive prevention. The event is free to the public and will have entertainment, food, drinks, and giveaways. There is no required dress code for guests. All are encouraged to attend as this is the opportunity to further discussion and enact change. The Initiative is still in need of sponsors and donors.
