In conjunction with the citywide PhotoNOLA Festival, NOMA will host the keynote address by internationally respected artist, educator, workshop leader Keith Carter, a recipient of the Texas Medal of the Arts. He holds the Endowed Walles Chair of Art at Lamar University in Texas, where he has received numerous teaching awards. Since the late 1980s, his timeless images of people, animals, objects, and landscapes have been published in thirteen acclaimed monographs. A new retrospective book, Keith Carter Fifty Years, is scheduled for release by UTPress in 2019. His photographs are in numerous collections including the Getty Museum, Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Art Institute of Chicago, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
