For our third celebration of Halloween festivities in the Music Box Village, New Orleans Airlift has joined writer and director Yamil Rodriguez and a team of artists to create an immersive five-act theatrical experience entitled Promised Estates. Drawing on the seasonal tradition of eerie haunted houses, and the sometimes bleak and uncanny experience of modern real estate acquisition, Promised Estates takes participants into a disconcerting near-future where luxury condominiums have become level three human facilities, and clean water is a prized commodity. Rather than the ghosts and skeletons of the past, Promised Estates is erecting the horrors of the future. Promised Estates runs from Thursday, October 25 to Sunday, October 28. Guests can reserve a time for their tour online, or sign up for the exclusive VIP experience offering an intimate sensory journey, which can only be described as “transformative.” Waiver required. Performance time: 30-40 minutes. New Orleans Airlift is a non-profit organization whose mission is to collaborate to inspire wonder, foster opportunity, and connect communities through the creation of public artworks. Our flagship project and headquarters is the Music Box Village is a unique experimental art installation of “musical houses” - small structures that are also newly invented musical instruments. Musicians who perform in the Music Box work collaboratively with these structures and their own conventional instruments to create new sounds and reinvent the familiar. Every performance is entirely unique, built on collaborations initiated by New Orleans Airlift, and designed to build bridges across cultural communities.
