This training is required for all staff of OPJC to attend in accordance with a new policy on responding to and reporting suspicions or allegations of child abuse or neglect. Sign-in sheets and copies of attendance certificates will be submitted to administration. In this training, participants will learn: The signs and symptoms of child physical abuse, child sexual abuse, neglect, and emotional maltreatment The facts surrounding child physical abuse and child sexual abuse How to appropriately respond to a child if they disclose abuse to you How to appropriately respond to a caregiver if they disclose abuse of their child Who is a mandated reporter by law (felony to fail to report) vs. who is a permissive reporter (encouraged but not required by law to report) How to report abuse allegations and suspicions to the appropriate authorities (DCFS and/or Law Enforcement) How to use the new OPJC Reporting Abuse form Techniques for supporting non-offending caregivers in supporting their children after abuse
