Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI) and Lift Louisiana would like to invite you to a training, Reproductive Justice for Faith Leaders: Exploring the Intersection. The Reproductive Justice (RJ) framework was developed over the course of a decade by SisterSong, Forward Together, and other organizations representing women of color. Reproductive Justice calls our attention to policies and practices that actively undermine and devalue childbearing by some women, as well as those that effectively force childbearing on others. This training, led by SisterReach, aims to provide faith leaders the knowledge and skills to both examine and challenge the social, racial, and economic structures that profoundly impact their congregants' lives. With this training participants will: Understand the framework of RJ and the necessity of applying the lens to their ministries; Move through targeted modules and share their concerns/understanding of the framework’s tenets; Increase knowledge of the intersection of faith in the context of RJ and other human rights sectors; and Gain tools to support those who are seeking to work with or within faith-based communities while engaging scripture, history, and current events in conversations about RJ and other human rights issues. This 2-day training, led by SisterReach, will be held: Thursday, April 11 - Friday, April 12 9 AM - 4 PM African American Museum, 1051 Chenault Park Rd., Monroe, LA Lunch will be provided.
