Ricky Sebastian is one of the premiere drummers and music educators in the American music world today. Fluent in all styles, Ricky has recorded on hundreds of records, toured the world many times, performing at all of the top jazz festivals with numerous jazz and Latin artists, and has taught thousands of students throughout his career. Born in southwest Louisiana, Ricky was raised in a family setting which exposed him to music at a young age; particularly Soul, New Orleans R&B, Cajun, and Zydeco styles. He also gained experience playing Jazz, Afro-Cuban, traditional New Orleans music, Carnival music, Brazilian, Reggae, Calypso, Funk and Rock. Ricky decided to move to New York City in 1983, as most of his musical idols lived there, and over the following 18 years, Ricky built a career as an in-demand recording and touring artist with a who's who in the industry, including, among many more, tour drummer for famed bassist Jaco Pastorius. He moved back to New Orleans in 1998 as the head percussion instructor at the University of New Orleans school of music, under the direction of Ellis Marsalis. Tonight, he presents his quintet with: Pat Casey - bass Oscar Rossignoli - piano Alexey Marti - percussion Doug Douget - saxophone
