School Board Presidents Academy-Procedures, Board Leadership & Dynamics (Feb 2019)

Loyola Law School Clinic Building
Getting there
540 Broadway Street, New Orleans, LA

Effective board leadership is critical to the success of any public school district.
The role of the school board president goes far beyond participating in the monthly board meeting.
Today's school board president must also be able to productively participate in the development of a vision for the school district, effectively facilitate and lead board meetings and publicly respond to crises as necessary.
The compliment of skills required to be a school board president are not to be taken lightly.
This first in a series of one-day seminars provides individuals in or preparing to be in the role of board president to operate using parliamentary
procedures successfully and manage complex relationships on the school board.
Dr. Brian K. Perkins has been a student of organizational leadership for close to three decades.
He has over 20 years combined experience as a school board president, national urban school board chair, national school board caucus president and city charter commissioner.
He has to his credit vast organizational restructuring experience and served as school board president leading over one billion dollars ($1B) in school construction projects.
Dr. Perkins is a highly trained executive coach with credentials from the Columbia Business School CCP.
This workshop will provide in-dept training with multi-media simulations and role-play.
Participants will walk away with a new set of skills for their board facilitation toolbox.
