Small Talks: Self-Taught Artist Manierre Dawson

New Orleans Museum of Art
Getting there
1 Collins Diboll Circle, New Orleans, LA

Small Talks are 10–15 minute gallery talks focused on one object or a small group of objects. These brief informal sessions enrich the visitor experience and allow visitors to learn more about artworks in our permanent holdings as well as those on view in temporary exhibitions. Join docent Harvey Oth as he discusses the work of self-taught artist Manierre Dawson (1887–1969), an American painter and sculptor who independently developed stylistic and material innovations that rivaled his most progressive contemporaries.
