YouthForce NOLA and MHA Labs are piloting a new Soft Skills Program Design Workshop for New Orleans youth development stakeholders -- and you’re invited to join in on the action! Come learn alongside colleagues and friends passionate and dedicated to skill building, youth power, and youth success. If you know others who may be interested in attending, please pass along the invitation! WHO: If you are looking to improve your program design to more thoroughly and intentionally integrate skill building into your student program(s). This workshop is meant for people who have a solid understanding of skill building basics and are looking to improve their program design, be more intentional about skill integration in their curriculum, etc. **We strongly encourage you to come with Team Members who co-teach or facilitate with you teach the same curriculum or program to another cohort. Other colleagues from different programs can also come but would work on their own program plans. WHAT: Soft skills are part of the family of skills also called Power Skills, SEL, 21st Century Skills, Non-cognitive, and more. In this Design Workshop, participants will deep dive into the Universally Awesome by Design method, including gradual release and how to develop rubrics for a target skill in your context. WHY: Soft Skill Building is central to youth success and is a fundamental component to Positive Youth Development and Academic Instruction. Soft skills are essential for work, life, and academic success! It even gets its own entire page in YPQA (Youth Program Quality Assessment)!
