Jefferson Parish Transit in partnership with Casa Jefferson , Second Harvest Food Bank , Jefferson Chamber and Transdev , will be hosting its first-ever Holiday Food & Toy Drive to collect items for individuals in need throughout the months of November and December. According to Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng, "We know how challenging this year has been for all of us and sometimes when you give, it makes you feel so much better and part of this community. This project is being led by our Jefferson Transit Director Ninette Barrios. I'm so very proud of Ninette for coming up with this idea and we hope to be able to grow this for years to come." "There are so many families that are truly in need," said Ninette Barrios. "This is a moment in time to pause and think about how we can help." Jefferson Parish Transit buses will be stationed at various locations every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. to collect nonperishable food and/or toys, which will be provided to those in need. Second Harvest accepts nearly all types of food product, including nonperishable items and produce. CLICK HERE for suggested food donation items. CASA Jefferson is asking for toys and gifts for all ages, birth to 18 years old.
