Join Lahpet and One World Family for our fourth annual Taste of Burma Fundraiser Dinner on May 31 at Live Oak Cafe, 8140 Oak Street in New Orleans' historic Riverbend neighborhood. This year's dinner will feature a six course plated dinner featuring inspired Burmese cuisine from Lahpet as well as food from guest Chefs Paul Chell of MoPho and Cristina Quackenbush of Milkfish. There will also be live music and specialty cocktails available for sale. One World Family is a New Orleans based non-profit organization that has been in operation since 2010. Its international work focuses on providing education to children living in high-poverty areas of Northern Thailand, many of whom are ethnic refugees from Myanmar. Locally One World Family has partnered with numerous organizations with work ranging from the promotion of sustainable living to helping the homeless. Lahpet is New Orleans' own Burmese food popup which grew out of the work of One World Family. Since 2014 Lahpet has been introducing the incredible flavors of Burmese cuisine to the Crescent City while simultaneously funding the work of One World Family abroad. The 2019 Taste of Burma Benefit Dinner aims to raise funds to send 45 children from two Thai villages to attend school for an entire year. Please join us for this very special evening!
