Born and raised in the musically fertile neighborhood of New Orleans' Seventh Ward, Thais Clark is a blues singer of prestigious effect. A high-energy performer with a deep-rooted passion for the bawdy numbers popularized by the likes of Ma Rainey and Bessie Smith, this vivacious singer-dancer can inhabit a song like no other. But her singing career didn't begin until she was 35, when she was hired, along with another New Orleans blues staple Topsy Chapman, by actor Vernel Bagneris to star in a play he wrote called "One Mo' Time." The musical - a humorous look at the perils of a touring 1920s Black vaudeville troupe - called for acting, singing and dancing; and though hesitant at first about her abilities and lack of experience as a singer, she proved to be a natural. Hers is a delivery that demands participation from its spectators. Now with more than 30 years' experience performing before audiences at home in New Orleans, and around the world, Thais Clark is a tireless entertainer bringing the same stunning amount of spirit to each and every performance. She has toured extensively in Europe and Asia with such musicians as Wynton Marsalis, Dr. Michael White, and the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra. Join us tonight for Ms. Thais Clark and her Jazzsters. Thais Clark's Jazzsters tonight are: Thais Clark - vocals Christian Winther - saxophone Chuck Chaplin - piano Don Vappie - guitar Richard Moten - bass Troy Davis - drums
