About the Instructors Born and raised in Washington, D.C., T. Cole Newton made his way to New Orleans in 2006 as an AmeriCorps volunteer in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. He began bartending shortly thereafter, earning his stripes at Commander’s Palace and Coquette, and went on to open his Mid-City dive, Twelve Mile Limit, in 2010. Since then, Twelve Mile Limit has become a mainstay on the Times-Picayune’s annual list of New Orleans’ top ten bars and was named the best bar in New Orleans by The Manual in 2017. (Stay tuned for his second location, The Domino, in the Bywater!) Cole is the current Vice President and former President of the New Orleans chapter of the United States Bartenders’ Guild. Kristin Estadt is a Certified Sommelier and the Bar Manager at Commander’s Palace. She has a degree in Hospitality from the University of Memphis and studied wine in Italy. As a passionate restaurant and beverage professional with over 15 years in the industry, she seeks opportunities to promote the expansive landscape of beverages from spirits to fine wines and everything in between. In her spare time, Kristin enjoys whiskey and live music, usually at the same time.
