In remembrance of the 20th anniversary of the murder of Matthew Shepard, The Storyville Collective and the Delgado Community College Theatre Department will be co-producing THE LARAMIE PROJECT. The play draws upon hundreds of interviews conducted by members of the Tetonic Theatre Company with the citizens of Laramie, as well as published news reports and company members journal entries, to depict the events surrounding the murder of Matthew Shepard, an openly gay college student at the University of Wyoming, by Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson. The murder was denounced as a hate crime and drew attention to the lack of hate crime laws in Wyoming and nationally.
