The classic pirate-adventure tale comes to new life in NOMA’s expanded Besthoff Sculpture Garden as the NOLA Project theater company presents Treasure Island. This world-premiere comic adaptation, penned by NOLA Project founders A.J. Allegra, James Bartelle, and Alex Martinez Wallace—and inspired by the garden’s scenic waterfront amphitheater—will blend story with sea shanties as we follow Long John Silver and his crew to Skull Island on a search for the notorious Captain Flint’s buried treasure. A 21st-century update to the epic adventure novel, Treasure Island is sure to enamor boys, girls, young, old, and is certain bring out the inner-pirate in every New Orleanian. PURCHASE TICKETS Productions will be staged twelve nights at 7 pm: May 6, 7, 8, 10, 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21, 22, and 24. Tickets are $25 for general admission | $20 NOMA members on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays; Friday night admission is $30 General admission | $25 for NOMA members. All seating is bring-your-own. Food trucks will be available at all performances as well as a fully stocked bar. No outside food or drink is allowed inside the Besthoff Sculpture Garden other than items purchased at the food trucks and bar. Rain Plan: For productions canceled due to inclement weather, we will notify all ticketed patrons no later than 4:30 pm. Patrons will then receive instructions via email on how they may reschedule their tickets for another performance or request a refund. All ticket purchases for any production that is rained out mid-performance are final. Presentation of Treasure Island is supported by a grant from the New Orleans Theatre Association (NOTA).
