Tip It Foundation & Trombone Shorty Foundation Bring You: Shorty Fest Presented by Acura The Trombone Shorty Foundation holds its annual flagship event “Shorty Fest” every year in between the two weekends of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The lineup features music by emerging young talent as well as renowned artists such as Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Galactic and more! The students from the Trombone Shorty Music Academy always take the stage for one of the highlighted performances of the night. As our biggest fundraiser of the year, proceeds from Shorty Fest provide support for our programming. In New Orleans, music is celebrated as an essential way of living—and is part of our history, and our future. Through the years, musical traditions have been handed down from one generation to the next. New Orleans musicians understand the importance of teaching the younger ones this heritage, allowing them to carry on the city’s musical culture. It is the acts of preserving the teachings, and honoring those traditions, that we believe will help keep New Orleans a vibrant and strong community for many years to come. At the Trombone Shorty Foundation, we proudly contribute to this time-honored tradition of "passing it on" and are committed to helping future generations of musicians in our community learn the skills needed to pursue their dream of a career in music. About The Trombone Shorty Foundation: Founded by Andrews in 2012, the Trombone Shorty Foundation is his vision to inspire the next generation by developing their musical talent and connecting them to the city’s unique musical heritage. Currently in its eighth year, the Foundation offers music performance and music business programs for high school-aged music students. These students learn homegrown New Orleans music—from brass band and traditional jazz to more modern funk and rhythm & blues styles, all of which play an integral role in the richness and depth of New Orleans’ musical legacy.
