A free CLE for attorneys who have volunteered, or are considering volunteering for the Eastern District’s pro bono program to represent plaintiff’s in Tittle VII litigation. One and a half hours of CLE offered at 12 noon on July 11, 2019 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court – EDLA, 500 Poydras Street, B-705. A light lunch will be served. This CLE will give a comprehensive overview of Title VII cases. USDC-EDLA Magistrate Judge Janis van Meerveld and attorneys Alexandra Navarre-Davis (U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission), William H. Payne, IV (Ogletree Deakins) and Julie Richard-Spencer (Robein, Urann, Spencer, Picard & Cangemi) will offer their experience and knowledge as they go through the roadmap of litigating Title VII cases. It will cover discrimination and whistleblower statutes, evolving laws, the role of the EEOC, damages, discovery and settlement. It will also cover client background and expectations, alongside understanding the employer and employment situation. All are welcome to attend. Pre-registration required.
