Drink specials at the Music Box Bar and dancing all night! Formed in 2009, Tuba Skinny has steadily evolved from a loose collection of street musicians into a solid ensemble dedicated to bringing the traditional New Orleans sound to audiences around the world. Drawing on a wide range of musical influences—from spirituals to Depression-era blues, from ragtime to traditional jazz—their sound evokes the rich musical heritage of their New Orleans home. The band has gained a loyal following through their distinctive sound, their commitment to reviving long-lost songs, and their barnstorming live performances. Straight outta Louisiana, New Creations Brass Band plays Second Line music and New Orleans’ jazz, invoking the spirit of The Big Easy. This young group of musicians -- brought together by their love for making great, contemporary Second Line music, -- have studied, played with, and lived around several greats like Shanon Powell, Shamarr Allen, and Trombone Shorty. Active in their musical community, these Sons of New Orleans have brought their sound and passion to other regions of the United States. They’re regulars on the HONK! Street Band festival circuit, performing in Boston, Providence, New York City, and Seattle. They offer music clinics to school children when they travel, introducing kids to the musical legacy of New Orleans, ensuring its continuation and endurance. Together and separately, New Creations’ members play for local Mardi Gras Krewes, serenade wedding parades, busk on Bourbon and Frenchman Streets, participate in jazz funerals, liven up sports teams' celebrations, and appear in the annual Red Bull sponsored BMX Second Line Parade (2017 and 2018).
