Link: https://www.facebook.com/events/407152880014972/ Community Celebration Unveils Interactive Artwork and Highlights New Amenities to Animate Duncan Plaza Arts Council New Orleans andthe Downtown Development District invite the community to join them tocelebrate the successful completion of Southwest Airlines and Project for Public Spaces Heart of the Community grant-funded work to animate Duncan Plaza. During the final celebration, the Arts Counciland DDD will unveil VectorFlow, New Orleans newest light-based and interactive art installation created by architects Marcella Del Signore andCordula Roser Gray and fabricated by Raven. VectorFlow joins Purple Rain, created by New Orleans Design firm ONE-TO-ONE, a suspended purple chandelier which illuminates the park trees along Loyola Avenue with a glowing purple hue each night. Additionally, new seating elements painted by local artist Danielle Hein and designed by One-to-Onewill be unveiled during the closing celebration. "This project connects the Arts Council's key initiatives to find creative waysto animate public space with our ongoing efforts through projects likeLUNA Fête to make New Orleans a center for art animated with light and technology," Arts Council Executive Director Heidi Schmalbach said. "VectorFlow closes a 18-month campaign in which we responded to community needs utilizing creative activations to attract new visitors to experiencethe benefits of what has traditionally been an underutilized public park." "We hope that increased accommodations and creative installations within the park continue to encourage visitors to enjoy Duncan Plaza," Downtown Development District President & CEO Kurt Weigle said. "Already we are seeing increased interest in utilizing DuncanPlaza as an event location while seeing increased daily usage by Downtown residents."
