ZaZen in the Sculpture Garden

New Orleans Museum of Art
Getting there
1 Collins Diboll Circle, New Orleans, LA

Join Richard Collins, an abbot in the New Orleans Zen Temple, for a meditative ZaZen session in the serene setting of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. The precise meaning and method of zazen varies from school to school in the Buddhist tradition, but in general it can be regarded as a means of insight into the nature of existence. Cushions will be provided for participants. This program will be offered in conjunction with the exhibition Teaching Beyond Doctrine: Painting and Calligraphy by Zen Masters, on view in the Arts of Japan Gallery on NOMA’s third floor.
