House Money: The Best Free Events This Weekend

A lack of funds doesn’t need to kill your weekend.

We get it. You just came out of Essence Fest and you’re a week away from a paycheck. It can be a tough time. But just because you’re coming up short doesn’t mean you have to hide inside all weekend. Check out a few of the freshest, free-est things happening this weekend.

Creepy Fest At Checkpoint Charlie’s

Creepy Fest takes over seven venues throughout town for a celebration of punk and metal.

Most of the shows making up the annual horror-punk throwdown charge a cover. And trust that $15 for a TSOL reunion show is worth it. But if that’s a little steep there’s a free set on Saturday that doesn’t skimp on the entertainment. Spooky skate punks Nosferat II will share the stage with the excellent Houston punk act Ese in a bill that runs from 6 til near midnight.

Where: Checkpoint Charlies
When: Saturday, July 14, 6:00 p.m.
